Description

The Austin Jazz Project, now in its eighth year, was conceived by a group of accomplished jazz musicians with strong education backgrounds in order to teach young musicians the art of improvisation and small combo jazz playing.

Over the course of 5 days, the participants will learn the art of arranging, interpreting, and improvising over a variety of jazz standards. In addition to performing, students will actively learn about jazz through listening sessions, ear training sessions and masterclasses designed to reinforce their understanding of this great American art form.

The workshop culminates in a final public performance/celebration on Friday, July 23, giving participants the opportunity to demonstrate their new skills for family and friends.
